Halal Chinese Spiced Braised Beef Shank

This is a dish that's popular in China and is slowly gaining popularity in the United States. The dish is made by simmering beef shanks with soy sauce, star anise, cinnamon, cloves, ginger, and other spices. The shank is then braised in water or broth until it's tender and ready to eat.

Material: Main material: Beef shank, egg

Ingredients: star anise, bay leaf, ginger, cinnamon, dried chili, dark soy sauce, soy sauce, salt, halal chicken essence.

Step 1: Wash the beef shank first, be sure to use boil water! Put in the ginger, then clean up the scum, and rinse it! Eggs should be boiled in cold water at room temperature, otherwise, they will be easily broken. (Just speaking from experience)

Step 2: After the beef shank is rinsed with boiling water, cook all the above spices and seasonings together with the beef shank. Cook the eggs together in cold water (star anise, bay leaves, cinnamon, dried chili, these can be packed in a small filter so that this is much cleaner!)

Boil on high heat first, after about half an hour, (the egg should be solid and cooked at this time, you can crack it with a spoon to make it easier to taste) turn to low heat and simmer for 40 minutes to 1 hour, The way to judge that the beef shank is cooked is to use a chopstick to insert it from a thick place if it can penetrate the beef shank, and then no blood comes out, it is cooked! 

Step 3: After cooking, I usually leave it overnight so that the beef shank and eggs can be more flavorful! Then take it out the next day and boil it again. After it cools down, put it in the refrigerator.

How to eat: 

Method 1: The beef shank and eggs that have been marinated overnight are very tasty. After the beef shank is put in the refrigerator, the taste is much better. When I usually use it to cook noodle soup, I cut thin slices and put them on top, really It's too appetizing.

Method 2: If it is cooked in the morning, when you are in a hurry to eat, if it is not very tasty, I usually make a cold salad. Put some dried chili granules, sesame seeds, coriander, chicken powder, and a little salt, and then burn some hot oil and put it down, that's it.
