The easiest vegetable to grow - the use of green onions

May 12, 2023
Green onions are one of the easiest vegetables to grow, and they can be used in a variety of dishes. They are a great addition to salads, soups, and stir-fries. They can also be used as garnishes or eaten raw. With minimal effort and time, you can have fresh green onions in your kitchen year-round. Growing green onions is easy and requires little space or resources. You can even grow them indoors if you don’t have access to an outdoor garden. The use of green onions is not only limited to cooking; they also have many medicinal benefits that make them a great choice for home remedies as well.

🌱Growing onions:

Onions are really the easiest to grow. Most of the ones sold in supermarkets have roots. When it is on the market and the price is cheap, buy a few more. After you get home, cut off the green onion leaves for your own use, and plant the rest in the backyard or in flower pots.

Once planted, just remember to water it now and then.

The ones in my family were buried in the ground one after another last year and the year before last. I remember that at that time, a bag cost one yuan, and there were four handfuls in it. I couldn't eat it all at once, so I threw it into the ground.

With green onions from the backyard, it is so convenient. Often when cooking, I send my baby to the backyard to temporarily cut some scallions, and take them as I use them, realizing the freedom of scallions. Last year, a handful of green onions sold for more than three yuan. During that time, every time I used green onions, I felt a sense of luxury from a rich man😂.

After the onion is planted, it must be like a leek. If it grows too long, it needs to be cut, otherwise the leaves will become old and it will be easy to bloom.

I haven't cut green onions recently, and I found that when the weather is hot, it will soon bloom. Hurry up and cut it:

Wash it, let it dry for a while, then cut it into small pieces to make scallion oil.

Unused green onions, cut into chopped green onions, can be used to make scallion pancakes, flower rolls, scrambled eggs with chopped green onions, etc., or put them in boxes or ziplock bags and freeze them for later use (do not thaw them in advance).

Simple version of scallion oil:

Get out of the pan, heat the pan with cold oil, and add the scallions:

fry the green onions

If you can't wait, you can turn on medium-high heat at first, and watch the scallions gradually soften and darken in color:

If there are too many scallions, stir it from time to time to ensure that the scallions are heated evenly.

After about fifteen minutes:

Dark and soften

Continue to simmer until the scallions are dehydrated and turn slightly browned in color, then you can turn off the heat.

🥘Scallion oil usage:

My family will use scallion oil and other seasonings to make cold dishes, or use it to scramble eggs or fried tofu, which is full of scallions.

The most important thing is to make scallion noodles:

1. After the noodles are cooked, rinse with cold water and blanch the vegetables.

2. Start the pot, put the onion oil and the green onion in the pot, add a small amount of sugar, and heat it up. After the sugar melts, pour in the soy sauce, turn off the heat, and immediately stir in the noodles.

In addition, because the noodles with scallion oil are delicious when eaten warm or cold, the baby also likes to take it to school for lunch. Sometimes I get up late in the morning, or when I don’t know what to bring my baby for lunch, I use this to top up 😄.
